Mario Lopez Gets a New Crib to Go With His New Crib

BUYER: Mario Lopez
LOCATION: Glendale, CA
PRICE: $1,940,000
SIZE: 4,430 square feet, 4 bedrooms, 6 bathroom

YOUR MAMAS NOTES: Strap on your safety belts butter beans because Your Mama is on a bit of a tear this morning.

Child actor turned tee-vee presenter, book writer, and spokesperson Mario Lopez is the next in a too long list of celebrities and quasi-celebrities to get a reality show simply because they're having a damn baby. Lo-word have mercy childrne, it's as if having a baby were some sort of rare occurrence even though millions of women do it every damn day without a television crew filming it for national tee-vee.

See puppies, apparently the politically conservative Mister Lopez is making babies out of wedlock with his long time ladee-friend, a Broadway dancer named Courtney Mazza, and they're going to get paid the medium bucks to let the VH1 cameras follow them around while they change dirty diapers, make stoopid faces at their infant, and fret over every little hiccup the thing makes.

Oh, yippee! That sounds just thrilling, don't it? Why do people think the details of their infant childrens' lives are so interesting to other people? News flash: They aren't. People just pretend to be interested in your baby's crap schedules and feeding habits and then go home and complain about it to anyone who will listen about how boring y'all have become since you've had a damn baby. And don't even think about showing your gawd damn birth video to anyone. We get it, a child is a kind of miracle and all that, but your friends don't really want to see that. Seriously. For reals. They don't. Think about it. Do you really want to see your co-worker or sister pass a bloody, bowling ball sized thing through her cho-chuh? No, of course you don't. Jeezis, Mary and Jehosephat we need a nerve pill just thinking of that.

In all fairness to Mister Mario Lopez, who seems like a nice enough guy even though he's (allegedly) had trouble keeping his wing-wang in his pants in the past, he's said he intends to to the right thing and make an honest woman of his baby momma and that–surprise!–the wedding may be a part of his new reality show.

Smooth chested Mister Mario Lopez–who, thank y'all very much, has the ripped out body of a gay porn star–played the ethnic hunk on Saved by the Bell in the early 1990s and graduated to a lead role in 1997 as Olympic diver Greg Louganis in his television movie life story. Even before appearing on Dancing With the Stars in 2006 where he began a two year romance with his partner Karina Smirnoff or taking on the full time hosting duties of the celebrity gossip fest Extra in 2008, the very congenial and smiley Mister Mario Lopez was a much sought after host for programs such as The Other Half with Danny Bonaduce–a depressing display meant to be the testosterone fueled version of the estrogen party that is The View–and a slew of those mortifying and embarrassing Miss Teen USA and Miss America pageants.

In 2008 Mister Mario Lopez made his Broadway debut in the revival of Chorus Line and currently, in addition to his hosting duties on Extra, he hosts America's Best Dance Crew, MTV's Top Pop Group, and TV's Dating Factory. He also writes books about fitness and diet and gets paid to be the spokesperson for some drink we've never heard of that claims to burn calories. When Mister Mario Lopez had time to knock up his ladee-friend we don't know, but knock her up he did.

Anyhoodles poodles, in anticipation of baby and reality show, Mister Mario Lopez recently splashed out $1,940,000 for new crib in the Los Angeles suburb of Glendale, CA where he and his baby momma Miss Mazza can put their baby's new crib. According to property records (and previous reports), Mister Mario Lopez and Miss Mazza will be raising their love child in a very privately situated and historically landmarked 12-room Spanish style house in the foothills of Glendale, CA. The tax man's records and listing information Your Mama teased out of the interweb shows the Lopez/Mazza digs measure 4,430 square feet and include 4 bedrooms and 6 poopers.

A long driveway leads from the street down to an electronically controlled gate that swings open to a tight motor court where there is three car garage. A courtyard with gurgling fountain separates the motor court from the front door of the fully renovated house that was originally built in 1929 and sprawls across 5 tax parcels that total just under an acre of land.

Listen butter beans, listing photos show the out-dated and uninspired day-core of the previous owner so we're not going to discuss all that and just cross our fingers that Mister Mario Lopez has the good damn sense to hire a nice, gay decorator to do up his new digs in an appropriate and tasteful manner and not, heaven help us all, like one of those tacky all-beige hot messes that so many people seem to like to install in their multi-million dollar suburban houses.

The interior spaces of Mister Mario Lopez's new home includes a formal living room with ebonized hardwood floors, arched windows and doorways, fireplace, and city lights views towards the small cluster of towers in downtown Glendale. Decorative wrought iron gates with a snail spiral pattern separate the formal living room from the oval shaped formal dining room that has a decorative tile baseboard, a trio of arched leaded glass windows and a large chandelier constructed of a tangle of twigs. Those windows, we hope, are original to the house, but Your Mama, who can get wild with claustrophobia, would much prefer to be able to see through those windows.

Listing information indicates the adjacent and somewhat oddly shaped eat-in kitchen was recently remodeled and appears to Your Mama to include travertine floors, granite counter tops, chestnut colored cabinetry with simple raised panel doors, and a full suite of black fronted Viking brand appliances. One entire, dizzying, and visually complicated wall in the kitchen is fitted with two refrigerators, three ovens, a warming drawer and a microwave, or what we think is a microwave. Additional rooms in this old house include an office/den and a family room with fireplace and arched French doors that open out into the extensive patios are gardens.

In addition to the master bedroom that has a brand new pooper and a balcony overlooking a courtyard, there are 3 additional family bedrooms, a newly remodeled guest house tucked back behind the garage with kitchen and bath, and a separate pool house.

Mexican paver tiled terraces with lovely views wrap around the "U" shaped house and surround the free form swimming pool located on a large flat area tucked into the hillside. The land below the swimming poll and pool house is terraced like rice paddy fields and should provide for some secluded spots where Mister Mario Lopez and his baby momma Miss Mazza can escape the prying eyes of the camera crews they've invited to be in their home day after day after day.

According to property records Mister Mario Lopez has owned a 4,387 square foot house in the foothills of Burbank, CA since June of 2004 when he forked over $1,350,000 for the 5 bedroom and 5 pooper property. Records also show that he also owns a second house in Burbank, not so far from the other, with 3 bedrooms and 3 poopers that he bought way back in 1994 for $238,000. Your Mama does not know who occupies this house but since Mister Lopez is a man who loves his family, we would not be the least bit surprised to learn that his parents live there. Or maybe he just rents it out for income. Who knows?

Although we don't expect that we'll watch more than once, we do plan on tuning in this fall to Mister Lopez's upcoming reality show in order to check out how he and the not-yet Missus Lopez do up the day-core. We are hoping for the best but, for some reason that we can't explain, expecting the worst.

Jason Lee Lists at a Lower Price

SELLER: Jason Lee
LOCATION: Los Angeles, CA
PRICE: $3,250,000
SIZE: 2,205 square feet, 3 bedrooms, 3 bathrooms

YOUR MAMAS NOTES: Ooo-wee children. One of Your Mama's all time favorite celebrity owned properties is back on the market and it's looking even better than before. Back in late 2007 three time Grammy winning R&B singer and guitarist Robert Cray sold his long time compound located in the Los Feliz area of Los Angeles for $3,350,000.

Even before the ink was dry on the deed Your Mama had heard from several well connected sources including the always spot on Lucy Spillerguts and the the serious celebrity real estate insider Gabriella Gabsaboutit that the buyer was 2-time Golden Globe nominated actor Jason Lee. Less than three years later the property has been hoisted back on the market with an asking price of $3,250,000, otherwise known as $100,000 less than was paid for it near the very top of a once white hot real estate market.

Mister Lee, a former professional skateboarder, busted into showbiz in the mid 1990s when he appeared in the movies Mallrats and then Chasing Amy. He went on to roles in Almost Famous and Vanilla Sky (with fellow Scientologist Tommy Crooz). By the mid-2000s he was a bone fide tee-vee star on the program My Name is Earl in which he played a mustachioed and well meaning dummkopf who won a bit of money in the lottery and spent all his time doing good deeds in order to atone for his previous life as a petty criminal. The show was canceled in 2009 and Mister Lee quickly got another job sans mustache as a quirky police detective on Memphis Beat on the TNT. Like so many other actors and actresses, Mister Lee has lucratively lent his voice to a number of animated films throughout his career.

Mister Lee's private life is his own beeswax, of course, but he is a public figger after all and for those interested in these things he is currently married to the Turko-Australian model Ceren Alkaç with whom he made one baby a couple of years ago and he has another 10 or 11 year old child with the unconventional name of Pilot Inspektor who he made with another lady to whom he was engaged but not married. He also, allegedly, sits on the Board of Advisers for the Citizens Commission on Human Rights, a "nonprofit organization dedicated solely to eradicating mental health abuse and enacting patient and consumer protections" founded by those wacky folks at the Church of Scientology. As best as Your Mama can tell, the CCHR's primary concern is to make psychiatrists out to be little more than drug pushing devils.

According to current listing information, which proudly announces that it is a "Gated & Private Celebrity Compound," the property stretches across 1.41 terraced hillside acres and includes a modestly sized 2,205 square foot main house with 3 bedrooms and 3 poopers plus a pool house, detached office/studio space, and a detached 2-car garage where Your Mama imagines Mister Lee keeps at least some of the vintage motorcycles he's known to collect.

There is, of course, nothing "modest" about a modestly sized home that is priced well over three million clams, but the single story main house, built in 1948 and sited with views of the Hollywood sign and Griffith Park Observatory, has an architectural simplicity and honesty that gives Your Mama the good kind of goose bumps. The drive gates open to a large motor court and detached two car garage with adjacent office/studio space. An extra wide gravel path leads to the front door set into the center of the front facade that is literally dripping with foliage in a very purposeful but haphazard sort of way.

The living room has chestnut colored hardwood flooring, a beamed wood ceiling, and opposite the super extra long window that looks out into the gardens there is a monolithic but discreetly designed stacked Arizona flagstone fireplace with a raised hearth reminiscent of something one might find in a Frank Lloyd Wright designed home. The day-core is a smart, warm and dee-voonly eclectic hodge-podge of classic mid-century modern pieces, a variety of mis-matched and multi-colored rugs laid willy-nilly on the floor, photographs leaning against the wall and along the window sill, and stacks of books on just about every flat surface including on the floor, on the hearth, and on the Isamu Noguchi coffee table.

Your Mama would like the children to notice that there does not appear to be a boob-toob affixed to the wall, mounted above the fireplace or, indeed, any television anywhere at all in this room. Your Mama adores the tee-vee and all the banal and jaw dropping crap programs that come pouring out of it night after night. We even more love a room designed for conversation, contemplation, reading, crossword puzzling and listening to music. How rare is this in a day and age when so many folks seem to think that the height of luxury is having cable television in their damn shower.

Just beyond the living room is the dining room that has a concrete floor with custom tile border and wall of collapsing French windows that slide open to create a seamless interaction between the indoors and the outdoors. A 1950s desk-like dining table lit by a single glass orb pendant light (that we think is hung a tad too high) is surrounded by vintage Emeco aluminum chairs. A low table at one end of the room is stacked with more books and a built in wet bar is the perfect spot for a boozer like Your Mama to camp out during a party or during the long slog of the mid-morning hours.

The petite but well equipped kitchen has glossy hardwood floors with custom tile border, concrete counter tops, open shelving, which we love like the dickens, and a white porcelain farmhouse sink with industrial style hardware that sits in front of a long window that echoes and smartly ties in the long window in the living room. See how that's done, kids? Someone was really thinking here. Anyhoo, we're not so fond of the natural wood raised panel doors on the lower cabinets and we're a bit miffed that the refrigerator is located in the adjacent pantry, but these are quirks we could happily get used to.

Each of the three bedrooms opens to the terraces and patios that surround the house and the well-sized master bedroom has a private garden surrounded by a vine covered wall, and an attached pooper with a most unusual tub/shower combination with a curved section that juts out into the room. Of course we don't know a nail head from a book end, but we imagine that bump out is a step to make it easier to get in and out of the thing.

On the hill side of the house an expansive terrace leads to an art and book filled office/studio space with saltillo tile floors that rather interestingly climb up about 1/3 of the bottom part of the walls with the remainder covered with woven grass wall coverings. We don't really recommend running the tile up the walls, but iffin the room were cleared out it could be hosed out without destroying the walls, which isn't an entirely bad thing, right?

The large, rectangular swimming pool with its surround of irregularly sized flagstone is sunk directly into the lawn of a large flat area just below the house. A small pool house, which Mister and Missus Lee use as an apparel design studio, has a wide covered porch for escaping the scorching southern California sunshine and the inside has saltillo tile floors and a vaulted wood beamed ceiling. There does not appear to be a pooper in the pool house which is a real shame because it's a bit of a drag to have to schlep a gin filled bladder back up to the main house even if it isn't really very far. Like with the the kitchen issues, it's an inconvenience Your Mama could get used to even though for three million clams we would prefer not to have to climb any stairs at all in order to do our bizness.

The property has a rough around the edges we-didn't-do-up-the-landscape sort of landscaping that we'd bet our long bodied bitches Linda and Beverly cost a fortune to install. A couple of unexpected architectural gems dot the property including a tree house that Your Mama would have chopped off a limb to have as a child and and a vegetable garden enclosed in very contemporary structure wrapped with chicken wire to keep out the many critters who, believe it or not, roam the streets and byways of most if not all of the hillside neighborhoods in Los Angeles.

Listen butter beans, Your Mama and the Dr. Cooter are not nor will we ever be in the market for a three million dollar property but iffin we were ever to find ourselves with pockets that deep we would have surely called Mister Lee's real estate people yesterday and made an offer. A grand and meticulously manicured estate is a lovely thing to behold, but our personal real estate preferences are really more in line with the arty-farty boho sort of thing going on at Mister and Missus Lee's compound.

One has to wonder why the Lees would choose to leave their little slice of paradise in Los Feliz so soon after settling in. Then again, famous folks are a funny lot and who are we to know anything about or question the fickle real estate ways of the rich and famous?

Steve Carell Nabs a New Crib

BUYER: Steve Carell
LOCATION: Toluca Lake, CA
PRICE: $6,000,000
SIZE: 5,126 square feet, 6 bedroom, 5 bathroom

YOUR MAMAS NOTES: We heard this deal was going down a long time ago but unfortunately forgot about it until reminded by the bizzy boys at Celebrity Address Aerial yesterday. The reigning king of comedy Steve Carell (The Office, The 40 Year Old Virgin, Little Miss Sunshine, Get Smart) has splashed out on new digs paying an even-steven $6,000,000 for the Toluca Lake, CA estate of sassy comedic icon Jonathan Winters.

Property records show the 1.27 acre estate includes a 5,126 square foot traditional style house with 6 bedrooms and 5 poopers. One side of the double gated circular drive swings by the front door and through a porte cochere to a massive motor court and the other side swoops around the house and directly into the motor court. At the back of the heavily treed property is a free-form swimming pool with adjacent pool house and for some bizarre and stoopid reason a tennis court has been slammed up against the back of the house. Your Mama hopes that Mister and Missus Carell figure out a way to swap the swimming pool and tennis court without doing much if any damage to the many mature shade trees that dot the property.

It does not appear to Your Mama that the Winters' property was on the open market.

The upscale but down to earth Toluca Lake neighborhood is filled to the gills with high profile people such as Miley Cyrus who owns her own recently purchased property that's just around the corner from her family's spread, Eric McCormack, Markie Post, Swoosie Kurtz, Andy Garcia, Demi Lovato, and Ashley Tisdale just to name a few.

Since May of 2006 another of Mister Winters' other famous neighbors has been none other than Steve Carell who has owned a 6,657 square foot house with 5 bedrooms and 6 poopers that is literally just around the corner from his new home. Mister and Missus Carell, actress Nancy Carell, also own a modest 4 bedroom and 2.5 pooper home in Marshfield, MA that records show they purchased in July of 2005 for $790,000.

The aged Mister Winters, we presume but do not know, moved to his 3+ acre estate in magnificently expensive Montecito, CA where he and the wife–who passed on in January of 2009–were smart enough to buy way back in 1990 when it didn't cost ten or twelve million for a piece of shit shack.

The Michael Jackson Mansion Goes Back on the Block

Buckle your safety belts butter beans and prepare for a shit storm of publicity because the Los Angeles mansion where Michael Jackson met his untimely death in June of 2009 is back on the market with an asking price of $28,995,000.

The Richard Landry designed dwelling on N. Carolwood Drive in the hoity-toity Holmby Hills area contains a total of 7 bedrooms, 7 garage spaces, 12 fireplaces, and an unlucky 13 poopers. When our seriously superstitious house gurl Svetlana heard there were 13 terlits in the house she dropped to the floor, flailed and wailed around a bit screaming about how "Michael should have known. He should have known..."

The 17,171 square foot faux French chateau sits on a 1.26 acre lot according to listing information and is owned by Roxanne Guez and her controversial clothing manufacturing mogul huzband Hubert who is the current CEO of that upsetting Ed Hardy brand.

Your Mama has written about and dissed on the palatial pile a thousand time before so there's no need for us to rehash the hashed. However, iffin any of the children missed any of our previous discussions some of them are here, here, and here.

Decorator John Saladino Lists Montecito Villa

SELLER: John Saladino
LOCATION: Santa Barbara, CA
PRICE: $24,500,000
SIZE: 10,500+ square feet, 6 bedrooms, 6 full and 2 half bathrooms

YOUR MAMAS NOTES: Listen chickens, Your Mama has a lot of things crowding our plate today but instead of leaving y'all high and dry we thought we'd show you a little pretty located in the über upscale enclave of Montecito, CA.

All to frequently Your Mama finds ourself staring with flabbergast and shame at some over-wrought mcmansion that listing information generously and audaciously proclaims to be Tuscan or otherwise Mediterranean in its architectural style. As often as not these faux-Tuscan bad dreams are sitting cheek by jowl with massive mock-Mediterraneans in some suburban guard gated community with a stoopid name like Whispering Oaks. Seldom and sadly do we come across a property that purports itself to be authentically Italian in design that could very well be found in the countryside of the boot shaped nation. However, the done done duh-uhne 13-acre Montecito estate owned by the much lauded and applauded veteran interior designer John Saladino that recently arrived on the market with a butt clenching asking price of $24,500,000 manages a genuine Italian truthfulness seldom seen outside of Italy and, let's be honest butter beans, only available to those with the loot to finance such an exercise in architectural integrity.

Mister Saladino's work may not be to your taste–and it is not even remotely how Your Mama and the Dr. Cooter would choose to do up a house–but he's known around the world by the sorts of filthy rich folks who can afford his services for masterfully mixing modern bits and pieces with traditional styles and architectural antiquities that altogether create a pastiche of decorative perfection. The completed rooms and projects of the mid-west bred designer sally forth with a dignified–if sometimes haughty–self possession, are painstakingly and expensively balanced, and remarkably poised with a pitch perfect sense of what is both architecturally and decoratively correct.

Once upon a time, in another lifetime when Your Mama owned an itty-bitty showroom in New York City, Your Mama sold Mister Saladino–or more accurately a representative of Mister Saladino–several custom made chandeliers that were to be installed in the home gym of some potentate in Saudi Arabia, Dubai or one of them other Middle Eastern countries where money is often no object. Needless to say we have a bit of a soft spot in our cold and dark heart for Mister Saladino who helped to keep our lights on for another month or two in those post-9-11 years that were pretty rough for a lot of small downtown biznesses such as our little endeavor.

Anyhoo, property records indicate that the very accomplished New York City-based Mister Saladino scooped up his West Coast getaway in July of 2001. It's not clear to Your Mama what the decorating demon paid for the property but we'd bet our long bodied bitches Linda and Beverly that the purchase price and renovation costs don't even come close to the sky-high asking price which reflects not only the quality of Mister Saladino's full-scale renovation and restoration of the 1929 stone Italianate mansion, but also the explosion in property prices that occurred in the early 2000s in that exceedingly expensive neck of the California coast.

The house, which Mister Saladino drolly dubbed Villa di Lemma, is accessed by way of a gated .2 mile long drive that winds up the hillside through a park like forest of eucalyptus, cypress, and mahogany trees. One arrives dramatically at a massive motor court that's paved with antique stones and dotted with antique Venetian statuary.

The ocean view villa measures somewhere in the neighborhood of 10,000 square feet and in addition to its 9 fireplaces includes 6 bedrooms and 6 full and 2 half poopers, a count we're pretty sure but not positive includes the guest apartment or staff quarters that has its own separate entrance.

A doorway in the ivy covered stone front facade, flanked by tall cypress trees and a pair of gas sconces, gives passage to a covered loggia with exposed beam ceiling and rustic stone floor that leads to the entrance hall that gives way to the 40-foot long drawing room with large fireplace, original 2" thick terra cotta tile floor, and sophisticated day-core. The nearby formal dining room that has large casement windows on two sides, another fireplace, and a mix of stone and paneled walls that might be some sort of pecky cypress or pickled something or other. A hidden door in the dining room leads into the adjacent kitchen.

Most folks would not dream of putting a super sleek sybarite's dream kitchen into such a period piece as Villa di Lemma, but Mister Saladino fearlessly dares to go there with slab marble counter tops, stainless steel cabinetry, and custom built refrigerators all of which are without question happily married to Old World architectural details such as rough stone walls and a series of chunky hand hewn beams that march down the wood ceiling.

The least formal room in the house, where Your Mama hopes Mister Saladino and his family can kick their feet up on the furniture and watch the boob-toob, is the stone walled and sky-lit media room that has a curving fireplace tucked into the corner, built in book shelves with scrolled broken pediments, wet bar, large flat screen tee-vee, garden access and views, and lots of cozy looking down-filled upholstered pieces. Your Mama would like the children to note the gigantic antique rug on the floor of the media/family room woven of the most beautiful and subtle beiges, burnt oranges, and ochres. We can't imagine how we'd incorporate that run into the day-core of our little cottage in the hills, but we'd run over a nun to have something that exquisite to lay down on the floor.

There are, according to listing information, three bedrooms with private poopers on the upper level and another guest suite on the lower level with private entrance, access to a garden terrace, and private facilities that feature an antique Roman soaking tub. Mister Saladino's master suite, also on the lower level, opens to an ocean view gravel garden and includes leather detailed bathroom and dressing areas.

Mister Saladino's talents don't end with choosing the right wood for paneling or the correct side table for the foyer. He's also a skilled landscaper whose handiwork can be seen in every nook and cranny of his Santa Barbara estate. There are extensive gardens, terraces, courtyards that offer both panoramic and thoughtfully framed ocean, harbor, mountain, and city views. In addition to flat lawn terraces including one where Mister Saladino has installed a single classical Roman column, there is an agave garden, olive allee, and ocean view swimming pool. Just below what marketing materials call the Oriental carpeted terrace an outdoor dining terrace is shaded by craggy olive trees on one side and hemmed in by a long stone balustrade on the other. It's really here where Your Mama can see and best understand the appeal and skill of Mister Saladino who has recognized that this stunning locale requires little in terms of day-core than an extra long family style farmhouse table and 10 or 12 weather worn wicker chairs that look like they were stolen out of a café on the Via Veneto.

The new owner of Mister Saladino's Villa di Lemma will have some big shit neighbors to invite over for a backyard barbecue including Al or Tipper Gore who recently scooped up a $8,875,000 Montecito mansion, Oprah Winfrey, tool tycoon Eric Schmidt who reportedly bought Ellen Degeneres and Portia diRossi's old place in late 2007 for around $20,000,000, super producer Ivan Reitman (National Lampoon's Animal House, Ghostbusters, Kindergarten Cop, and Ghostbusters II), the disgraced and former Countrywide Financial CEO Angelo Mozilo, funny lady Carol Burnett, and Beanie Baby billionaire Ty Warner who has a massive bluff top spread just on the other side of the Santa Barbara Cemetery from Bellosguardo, the sprawling estate of the recently hospitalized, mysterious, and reclusive centenarian heiress Huguette Clark who is said to not have occupied in the meticulously maintained house in 40 years or more.

In 2009 Mister Saladino published a coffee table tome called Villa that documented his long slog through the renovation and decorating process of Villa di Lemma which listing information says Mister Saladino called "the summation of all my knowledge; it's my opus." For twenty four and some million clams it better be a damn opus, right?

How I Sell on Ebay Part 1 :: My Closet

This little nook at the back of our basement office is the space
where I make my part-time income.

I have been selling on eBay since October 2000.

My very first sale was a set of coordinating Old Navy Baby footie pajamas.
I paid 50 cents for both of them and then sold them for $10!
(If you handed me 50 cents and I gave you back a $10 bill,
you'd be happy, right?)

I was hooked!

Maybe you'd like to de-clutter and start making money
to pay for life's little extras (like vacations, braces, a major appliance) you'd like or need,
so you can get out of or stay out of debt, like we did?

I also sell with etsy, Amazon and Craigslist, so my closet houses these things, as well,
but for the sake of simplicity, I am only going to be sharing about eBay only, for now.

I am blessed to have this closet.
But maybe you have a place in the corner of a room
in a cabinet, under the bed boxes, the garage that you can store items to be sold?

(This prism is the pull for the light bulb overhead which is NOT attractive)

These are the labels I use for Priority Shipping
and Delivery Confirmation.

FedEx Shipping labels.

This is the right side of the closet.
It contains the items that are incoming, and haven't yet been photographed or listed.

Books to resell (homeschooling, cookbooks, decorating, etc.)
DVDs and CDs, too.

The top shelf holds vintage luggage, Creative Memories pages.
The basket on the left has vintage Christmas linens.
The basket on the right contains vintage Christmas baubles, ornaments and bulbs.
These will get listed in November.

Vintage glassware and silver.

On the floor are all my recycled packing supplies:
(L) Top bin: Peanuts
(L) Middle bin: Air Pillows
(L) Bottom bin: Bubble Wrap, Cardboard Flats, and Tissue Paper
(R) Bottom bin: Tubes and Flattened Boxes

The left side of the closet contains items that have been listed
and are waiting to be sold and shipped.

The top shelf: vintage linens, fabrics and serveware.
Middle shelves: items that don't fit in the baskets.
Bottom bins: clothing and gift wrapping supplies.

Set of 5 Simply Shabby Chic pillows that I paid $4 for.

Which sold for: $76.99!

The Daisy-patterned glasses and tray below: I paid $4.50 for the set of 9 pieces.

They sold for $60.95!

Here are some other things I sell.

Vintage lingerie.
It sounds weird, I know, but these are highly sought after.

Here's a recent example of an auction's ending.
I hope I don't make some of you blush (sorry)!

See the SOLD price: $152.50!

So, you see--people really do buy ANYTHING!
(By the way, the undies cost 50 cents!)

Birdbath measuring tape holder.

This beautiful box was sent to me during this past Spring Supply Swap
held at The Shabby Chic Cottage each spring.
My swapping partner, Kathy at Creative Home Expressions made it for me!

It holds the Thank You cards I enclose with each sale.

Lightweight scale and heavy duty scale.
Clear Tape from the Dollar Tree.
Priority tape from the USPS.

If you want to start selling online, here's how to start:
  • Find and clear out a place to start storing items you think you want to sell. Create a staging area for the items you are selling.
  • Start filling it with items you want to sell. Anything. You'd be surprised what another person's treasure looks like.
  • Pick up some FedEx/UPS/USPS Priority labels and Priority boxes.
  • Find a postal scale. You'll definitely need one to weigh packages.

I know you all will have many questions if this is something you are interested in doing.
PLEASE ask me anything, I will answer you in future posts.

Weekend Wrap Up

1.
Former cab driver turned multi-billionaire Tamir Sapir got struck with the real estate luck stick and sold his famous Beaux Arts style Duke-Semans mansion on New York City's Fifth Avenue for a stroke inducing $44,000,000 to Mexican telecommunications tycoon Carlos Slim who, among other fingers in pies, owns a substantial portion of the New York Times.
