Okay, Week 1 here we go--
Choux de Bruxelles a' la Milanaise
[Brussels Sprouts Browned with Cheese]
For 6 people
- 1 1/2 quarts Brussels Sprouts, boiled in salt water for 5 min.
- 1/2 cup grated Swiss cheese
- 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
- 2 Tbsp. melted butter
Set oven to 425 degrees.
Mix cheeses together.
Lightly spray inside of casserole or baking dish with oil or non-stick spray.
Sprinkle 3 Tbsp of cheese in the casserole or baking dish to coat the bottom and sides.
Cover with layer of Brussels Sprouts.
Repeat cheese and Brussels sprouts layers twice more.
Pout the melted butter over all.
Place, uncovered, in upper third of oven for 10-15 minutes to brown the cheese nicely.
(this last picture is fuzzy, sorry. It was taken right before our camera died).
Taste Review:
Even before the dish was finished baking,
the aroma of the cheeses wafted through the house,
and we knew this was going to taste wonderful.
And it did.
The cheese was gooey and stringy and buttery.
It was actually fun to eat!
We all fought over the last few sprouts.
One word review: YUM!
