Those of you who know me well,
(and now those of you that will meet me: "Hello!")
(and now those of you that will meet me: "Hello!")
know I LOVE a PARTaY!
So, I am linking up with Amanda over at Serenity Now,
who planned a party, and I showed up on the doorstep!
She planned this party as a way for bloggers
to not only share a little bit about themselves,
but to also make an effort to get to know
some of the other wonderful people out there in Blogland.
I will be answering some questions,
so let's pretend we are chatting and sitting
enjoying a cup of coffee (or tea) in my cafe'.
~How long have you been blogging?
A little more than a month.
I meant to get started years ago,
but was busy being a Home Maker/wife/homeschooler, etc...
~Why did you start blogging?
Friends and family encouraged me to blog for now
and write a book later *wink.
I have always loved to write.
I have always loved to decorate.
I have always wanted to be the best mom, wife and friend that I can be.
I believe we all can learn so much more
from one another than we can ever know on our own.
I LOVE reading other's blogs, and getting ideas.
I thought, perhaps, I might even have some ideas to share, too.
~Tell me about your blog's title. Why did you choose it?
To become a home, a house needs to reflect
the personalities of those who dwell within;
the personalities of those who dwell within;
place filled with treasured items; fond memories; steadfast faith;
little joys and powerful passions of the individuals living inside its walls.
A house needs to tell a story (a thousand stories!)
in order to become a home.
in order to become a home.
I like to think of a home as a work-in-progress ~ ever evolving ~
changing as the occupants change and grow.
A place of comfort; beauty and, most of all, love.
So, I say farewell to the keeping of a house
and welcome the making of a home!
~What do you blog about?
Anything and everything- just give me time!
Cooking, hospitality, marriage, child-raising, sewing,
crafting, clean eating, debt-free living.
But mostly matters related to making a home
more functional and beautiful, like:
home staging, redesign, and Organizing--
(I did this for 10 years,
and stopped to finish homeschooling my daughters-
one is in college now).
When my other daughter is in college
then I can go back to my other "real" job.
This is my plan, anyway--
To me, what truly matters is not the furniture, the wall colors,
the flooring or the accessories within the house
--or even the house itself--
but the heart that I put into the making of a home.
The "why" of home-making is more important to me
~What is your favorite thing about blogging?
All of the wonderful bloggers and readers
that I meet and get to share life and thoughts with!
Also, expressing what's in my heart and (what's left of) my mind.
that I meet and get to share life and thoughts with!
Also, expressing what's in my heart and (what's left of) my mind.
~If you had to choose one famous person
to become your blog's next devoted reader,
who would you pick?
I'd want Jesus to become my Follower.
He's the one who specializes in INTERIOR decorating, really.
And transforms my messes into methods, clutter into calmness.
He transforms the places in my heart to reflect His likeness:
love, redemption, grace, peace and holiness,
and He wants to live in and be welcome in my little heart.
~What's the funniest comment you've ever received
on a blog post?
This one, left by Doda's Creative Wanderings was funny to me
since I don't know if I'll ever get out of the states for a trip somewhere:
Lovely job! Want to come over to Scotland and organise my home for me? I wish!
--and this one after a post on Mastering the Art of French Cooking: Week 1
(I intend to cook 1 recipe a week, for a year's worth of weeks)
out of Julia Child's book.
The recipe was:
Choux de Bruxelles a' la Milanaise
or: Brussels Sprouts Browned with Cheese
The comment, by It's a Wonderful Life was:
Looks delish! I must say, the name of the recipe sure looks better in French! :-) Maybe I'll start telling my husband what's for dinner in another language; I wonder how you say "hamburger helper" in French?!
