The Staging and Organizing of an Office

The office (or study or library
or the countertop in the kitchen, top of the dresser, etc.)
is the control room
of the house.
The center.

It is the place most decisions are made.
The place we confront the goals in life.

It ought to be a place that you can find things easily, right?
What if we considered that we have an office
or study room in our mind?

What do we store there in our thoughts,
the center of our heart?

Do we:
-keep notes and volumes of things that are not fit to look at?
-cram discontentment and jealousy into the crevices and drawers,
-file away unforgiveness and judgment towards others?
-clutter it with piles of regret and souvenirs of past failings?

What if we purged them?
Threw them away?
Replaced them with other things?

Summing it all up, friends, I'd say you'll do best
by filling your minds and meditating on things true, noble,
reputable, authentic, compelling, gracious
—the best, not the worst;
the beautiful, not the ugly;
things to praise, not things to curse.

Do that, and our God of peace,
(untroubled, and undisturbed well-being),
who makes everything work together,
will be with you.

Phillipians 4:8-9

(We all have our piles once in a while).
But, my sweet friends, let us try to dwell
on those things that are true and beautiful.
Let us rearrange our thoughts and ponder (file away)
those things that are useful and praiseworthy.
So, that on those days when we need to grab
a quick reminder of our true worth, it is easily found.

This is an office in a home I staged.
It had had piles for a while
because the homeowner lived between 2 homes,
and didn't have time to deal with both places.

In order to stage this room, the clutter was packed up or purged
a chair was brought in from the dining room,
and a sofa console table brought in from the living room.
No money was spent, I just used items from other rooms.

When staging an office, remember:
buyers want to see a clutter-free, organized space
that makes it look like fun to actually do work in.

When the Lord looks in our heart,
do you suppose He'd like to see the same thing?
