SELLER: Jodie Foster
LOCATION: Beverly Hills, CA
PRICE: $9,975,000
SIZE: 7 bedrooms, 8 bathrooms
YOUR MAMAS NOTES: Thanks to a quick-fingered informant we'll call Greg Gotstheskinny, Your Mama just learned that child star turned accomplished actor/director/producer Jodie Foster has heaved one of her two known homes in Los Angeles, CA on the market with an asking price of $9,975,000.
Miss Foster, now in her late 40s, has lived in the exhausting glare of Tinseltown's limelight since 1976 when she was nominated for an Oscar at the awkward age of 14 for her chilling portrayal of a pre-teen prostie in the phenomenal and iconic Martin Scorsese film Taxi Driver with Robert De Niro. Since then Miss Foster has won a pair of Academy Awards, one for The Accused and another for Silence of the Lambs. She received a fourth Oscar nomination in 1994 for Nell. She's also won a couple Golden Globes, a Screen Actors Guild award, People's Choice award and two Emmy nominations. Beehawtcha is Hollywood royalty even though she eschews publicity and prefers to remain almost entirely out of the public eye.
Some of these shameless attention-hungry starlets who flit around Hollywood nowadays–you know who you are–could take a lesson in career management from Miss Foster who has flourished and succeeded in the hard-edged entertainment industry without the help of tabloids and gossip glossies. But that's really another admonishment for another time.
Records indicate Miss Foster purchased the property, located on an elevated lot in a prime area of the Beverly Hills flats just above Sunset Boulevard, in July 2005 for $8,100,000. The Los Angeles County tax man shows the 1949 Connecticut country/Cape Cod style rancher measures 5,484 square feet but, honestly chickens, that seems on the wee side to Your Mama since listing information shows there are 7 bedrooms and 8 poopers on the property.
Listing information also shows the house sits on nearly an acre of gated grounds that include a circular drive, swimming pool, spa and lighted north/south oriented tennis court. Several years ago our deep throat informant Lucy Spillerguts snitched to Your Mama that Miss Foster was engaged in a remodel of the Bev Hills residence however we really don't know how extensive the (planned) overhaul was, if any of it was actually completed or–to be honest–if Miss Foster and her children ever even moved into the house. What we do know is that current listing information reads, "Build your dream estate on this lush park like setting" a call to action that indicates to Your Mama that the house is–at best–a fixer upper or perhaps even a tear down.
Somewhat ironically, Miss Foster's Bev Hills house–conveniently walking distance to the Polo Lounge at the swoon-worthy and celebrity-friendly Beverly Hills Hotel–was previously owned by Burt Reynolds's long time female companion singer/actress Dinah Shore. Miz Shore was not a lesbian but her name has become somewhat synonymous with lady-luvin' ladies due to the number of Sapphic sisters who flock in Birkenstock-wearing droves to Palms Springs each year for the lesbionic extravaganza known as the Dinah Shore Weekend.
Now listen kids, Your Mama is well aware that there are scads and scores of lesbian women who do not fit the crunchy-granola Birkenstock wearing stereotype. Indeed, our pill-poppin' lipstick lezzie pal Miss Jolene–a smart and sassy city girl who's about as far from the Birkenstock-wearing set as one can be–is currently camped out in our guest room. So save your righteous anger about the problem with stereotypes for someone else, okay?
Anyhoodles poodles, Miss Foster, a deeply private person who only recently came out of the proverbial homosexual closet, continues to own a 5,357 square foot residence above the Sunset Strip in the star-stocked Bird Streets neighborhood. The 5 bedroom and 7 bathroom house–and also an East Coast-y Cape Cod-ish style number–was purchased for an undisclosed amount of money in April of 1995. The seller was former model Cheryl Tiegs.
