Where Would You Rather Live: Westlake or the Park Cities?

One is the most affluent neighborhood in the country; the other is a historic and wealthy Dallas area known for its notable homes and residents.  Of course, I'm talking about the closely knit town of Westlake and the Park Cities, including Highland/University Parks and Preston Hollow.  No doubt, if you are a resident of north Texas, you've heard of these two areas.  Personally, I categorize Westlake as "new money" and the Park Cities as "old money."

Westlake is a whopping 6.7 sq. miles.  Most residents of Westlake live in Vaquero, a vast and growing luxury community, while some others live outside the gates.  The small town is also known for some of its notable residents including Chuck Greenberg, Josh Hamilton, Vernon Wells, the Jonas Bros, and more.  The homes built in Vaquero, I think, are some of the best built and most stylish homes in Texas.  Most of the residences in Vaquero take on southern accents and Mediterranean inspirations.  Just last January, Westlake, Texas made national news - it was voted the Most Affluent Neighborhood in America!

The Parks Cities, combined, is roughly 8 sq. miles.  Known throughout Dallas county, the Park Cities is easily the most luxurious area of north Texas.  Notable for its old money residents including Ross Perot, Jerry Jones, and many many more (too many to list), the Park Cities is a very wooded area with landscaped line streets.  When you are in the Park Cities, you are literally "breathing the same air as the Billionaires."  Strait Lane in Highland Park has been dubbed "Billionaire's Row" as the street is home to many billionaires.  Homes in the Park Cities are very large with some exceeding 20,000 sq. feet.  The historic portion of the Park Cities includes 6,000-12,000 sq. foot homes on very small lots, some 0.50 of an acre and lower.  Preston Hollow is an extravagant and draw-dropping neighborhood located within the Park Cities.  If you're bored one day, take a trip over to north Dallas - you won't be disappointed!

So, would you rather live in Westlake or the Park Cities?  Personally, I would choose Westlake, but I want to hear where you would live!
